Does Size Matter??

When looking for a curling iron, does size matter??

YES!

In this tutorial video I am using a 1 ½ inch curling iron and a 1 ¼ inch iron. Notice that initially you can not tell a huge difference with the size of the curl. But as you finger through to loosen up the curl that’s where you see the bigger the iron the looser the wave.

Let’s break it down.

This is where size matters. The length of the hair. If you have a pixie or a bob haircut you’re going to want to go with a 1 inch or 1 ¼ inch curling iron. The hair will be able to wrap around the barrel more.

Now let’s say you have a long bob haircut or a long layered hairstyle. Another thing to factor in is how well does your hair hold curl?? If your hair doesn't hold curl well the bigger iron isn’t for you. It will loosen up too much and eventually fall out. 

Ask your stylist what the best size is for your hair and desired style. Showing pictures of your goal hair always helps. My go to behind the chair is a 1 ¼ Inch iron if that helps. I find it to be the most universal.

I love to finish the style by misting with a hairspray then scrunching in a great texture spray. This allows for hold and definition.
