What to wear for Family Pictures
Family pics are always a lot of work for the moms.
Location, photographer and what to wear.
Luckily my go to family photographer @nicoleoruephoto handles most of it, I just need to find the outfits!
The days of jeans and a white t-shirt are over.
There are ways to go together without matching perfectly. I usually start with Ella or I because the boys are easy.
As a mom I try to find something I can move in and is flattering. There’s a lot of moving and juggling going on trying to take pictures. I’ve learned with my body type I need to stick with pants and a blouse or a cute short to mid length dress. I’m too short for long flowy dresses in photographs. I get lost in all the fabric.
My rules definitely aren’t THE rules but this is how I generally go about it.
I try to keep it to 2-3 colors that go together. That doesn’t include black, white and denim. I think of those as neutrals that go with everything. I love mixing prints but I keep it to 2 or less.
A simple plaid mixes well with almost anything. Think animal print or a floral next to a simple buffalo check plaid.
This year I went with a rusty red & olive green.
I found the 2 cutest dresses for Ella and I at Zara and I when I saw them I knew instantly they would look great next to each other.
My husband looks great in green so I grabbed him a polo
& layered it with a jacket I got him for Christmas last year:
My son was easy.
I got him a black & white buffalo plaid flannel from Old Navy & tan pants:
Let me know any tips you have!!! The struggle is real every year but maybe these few ideas that have worked for me will help you!
Happy Styling!!
