That big voluminous 90’s blowout is back! More and more of my clients are leaving their hair appointments wanting their hair big and full vs the beach waves. Don’t worry, the loose, beachy curls are still in but big and bouncy like Cindy Crawford is so hot.
When clients ask me if I actually use all my round brushes, I do when I’m going for big volume. Don’t worry, you don’t need 6 round brushes, two will work or 1 and let it cool before removing it.
The point of setting the hair in round brushes is letting it cool so the volume and curl will set. Think like a hot roller set.
When wanting to achieve volume at the root you actually do not want the largest size round brush. The larger the round brush the more smooth and straight the hair will be. You want a medium size to get closer to the root and give a little more bend.
My favorite round brushes are Ibiza. The boar gristle eliminates frizz and gives amazing shine.
For the round brushes the size 5 is the biggest. I recommend the 3 or the 4 depending on the length of your hair.
Croc is one of my favorite hair tool lines. Their tools are great quality at a reasonable price point.
I prepped my hair with Unite 7 seconds leave in detangler on the mid shaft through ends for moisture and heat protectant. I sprayed Unite boosta volumizer on my roots. If your hair is fine and tends to fall you will want to add more hold. I would try Unite elevate mousse.
Finally I set my hair with R+Co outer space hairspray for hold
If you can’t master the round brush but want full volume and bounce T3 makes a great updated hot roller set. The curlers are big so you get big and loose curls
