Products for Fine Hair

Do you have thin/fine hair and have trouble achieving volume? Or issues with hold?

I have been asking every client with these problems what works for them and what they need help with.

I recently did a blow dry tutorial breaking down products and brushes and the direction of airflow to get a full blowout. Now I’m going to breakdown product options so you can figure out what you need.

A big thing I learned was most of my clients didn’t love a lot of “volume” shampoos. They felt it either left a residue or was too drying. Just because fine hair can be weighed down doesn’t mean it doesn’t need moisture, especially if it’s color treated. I still recommend a creamy shampoo to not strip your hair. Try these options that aren’t as heavy. Both of these options have a great condition but keep the conditioner of your roots. Hold your hair in a ponytail and run it all through the ends. Whatever is left on your hands run through the ends of bangs or any dry areas that need extra love.

Fine hair still needs moisture and most importantly protection. I love Unite 7 seconds because it’s lightweight and won’t weigh down your ends. It provides moisture, heat protection and UV protectant all in one. Creams and oils will be too heavy for your texture. Another tip is to spray mid shaft through ends and avoid the root area.

Now for the volume products to apply to wet hair. I love Unite boosta spray. I mist this product in large sections on the root area.

Want to take it one step further for extra hold or a night out? Try their Elevate mousse. I scrunch this in the roots and mid shaft. A little goes a long way so nothing bigger than a golf ball size for longer hair. Half that for short hair.

Finally the after your blow dry product options. I love a texture spray for definition and hold. There are so many on the market and I like different ones for different reasons. For fine hair I like the driest, most lightweight option by Oribe.

Another favorite is a dry shampoo paste. This is rubbed in the root area and I run the remainder through my ends for added texture and separation for a messier look

I have two hairsprays I love and alternate

Unite 365 which has 3 settings for the nozzle

R+Co outer space for hold but a little more flexibility
