Summer Hair Care

Summer can be hard on your hair. Swimming in pools and the ocean, out in the sun all day. Not only does it dry out your hair but it’s also not great for your color.

Did you know hair will mostly absorb the first water it touches? Wet your hair with fresh water first and take it one step further by adding conditioner. This way your hair doesn't soak up all that salt water or chlorine. This tip will help any hair type from drying out all summer.

Conditioner acts as a filler. It blocks out all the harmful UV rays and adds an extra layer of protection from minerals and chemicals like chlorine.

I live in conditioning treatments in the summer. Check out my quick reel of 3 hairstyles with conditioner. It’s easy, quick & protects your hair

Ok now let’s talk about conditioners. The question I have been getting nonstop is about olaplex. Why is it drying out my hair? Is it bad? Olaplex is a bond builder and has a protein base. Once those bonds are filled the protein will start to overwork and dry out your hair.

The only thing that will truly heal split ends is a haircut. I’m sorry but I will always be real with you. A protein based conditioner can help build the midshaft back up but should be used sparingly.

A moisture based conditioner is your safest bet. A lot of the time the hair just needs moisture. These conditioners are also safe to leave in long periods of time and are perfect for the styles I show in the tutorial.

Please don’t think a protein based is bad. Olaplex isn’t bad when used properly. My advice is to ask your stylist who knows your hair when it comes to the protein options

Here a few of my moisture based treatments that are safe to use every 1-2 weeks

If you’re looking for a quick, everyday because you’re afraid you’ll never have time for a mask Unite 7 seconds detangler is your go to. I think you should have this even if you are a mask girl. Every time you wash your hair you should spray this on your ends. I even keep this in our pool/beach bag. I mist this on mine and my daughter’s ends so our hair doesn’t absorb yucky water.
