How to Style a Shag Haircut

I recently changed up my haircut. I went for a long, loose shag haircut. The layers give my hair so much shape and movement. I felt like my long hair was just hanging.

This cut is very on trend right now and you can keep it a little softer and less dramatic like mine or go all in which you might see being referred to as a wolf cut.

This look helps you get more volume because layers remove weight and I have a lot of hair.

I begin by adding R+Co Dallas thickening spray to my roots for lift. If you need more hold and lift try Unite elevate mousse and scrunch that into your root first then work it through the ends.

I am using my Croc blow dryer. Croc makes a great hair tool. I keep a Croc dryer, flat iron and curling iron at home and in the salon. I also use the curling iron in this tutorial.

I begin blow drying with my wet brush to smooth out any cowlicks and to get rid of as much moisture as possible before going in with my round brush. My favorite go to round brush is the Ibiza boar bristle brush. I love these for a few reasons. The boar bristles do not get as hot as a metal brush. Less heat equals healthier hair. The boar bristles are also great for smoothing and shine.

After I fully round brush my hair I go in with my 1 ¼ inch Croc curling iron. A little goes a long way. I maybe do 10 curls through the top layer and around my face. I finish with Unite Texturiza spray and call it a day!
